Exceptions in Visual Basic.NET 2005

Khi chúng ta lập trình thì đôi khi chương trình sẽ bị lỗi . Với người dùng bình thường thì gọi nó là bị “đụng”hay bị “treo”. Với các lập trình viên thì gọi nó là “ngoại lệ”. Chương trình chỉ xảy ra ngoại lệ khi có tình huống nào đó làm cho nó bị “hố”, trong khi chúng ta không mong muốn nó làm điều đó lúc thiết kế.

Còn trong bộ khung .NET của Microsoft, ngoại lệ được dùng vào 2 mục đích : Thứ nhất, được dùng có mục đích, cảnh báo người dùng khả năng mất dữ liệu. Thứ hai, các lớp đối tượng của .NET báo cho bạn biết là mã lập trình bị sai chỗ nào đó. Nếu mã lập trình của bạn lại bỏ quả ngoại lệ, thì có thể chương trình bạn sẽ bị treo . Một lập trình viên sáng suốt biết phải biết cách xử lý các trường hợp ngoại lệ thật thông minh để người sử dụng chương trình của bạn không phải nghĩ tới một cái gì đó khác ổn định hơn cái của bạn.

Trong chương này, bạn sẽ thấy sự đa dạng của các ngoại lệ. Bạn sẽ biết làm cách nào để tạo ngoại lệ của riêng mình và thấy được đó là một kỹ năng hữu ích mà bạn cần phải nắm được. Bạn cũng sẽ biết cách quản lý các ngoại lệ gây ra bởi mã lập trình của mình hoặc của bộ .NET. Tôi cố gắng chỉ cho bạn biết cách làm việc như thế nào là đúng hoặc sai với các ngoại lệ, và không phải lúc nào ngọai lệ cũng là ý hay.
